Warm Nights Winter Relief
Warm Nights - Winter Relief Program
MISSION:
To protect homeless men and women during the winter months by providing shelter in a clean, safe, and warm environment.
OBJECTIVE: The Winter Relief Effort is an emergency shelter for the homeless . More than 60 churches of various denominations across Anne Arundel County participate in this program every year from mid October to the end of April.
Volunteers are always needed and will have opportunities in the following ministry areas: sharing Christian fellowship by talking and visiting with our guests; preparing, cooking & serving meals; providing transportation as drivers; serving as night hosts/monitors; providing entertainment & education as might be required; running errands; doing laundry; daily clean-up of the kitchen and hall; and setting up and breaking down the shelter at the beginning and end of the week. In all of these ministry areas we are personally demonstrating Christ's' love to the homeless and our love of Christ.
ATN members provide the men and women a daily hot breakfast, a bag lunch, hot dinners, snacks, as well as transportation to day center, to laundry, shower facilities, etc.
Individual ATN ministries often sign up for a day and / or evening to be the host and will not only fix and serve food, bag lunches, etc., but will play board games, talk and fellowship with guests for the week.
Worship is not mandated, however, many of our guests will join us for weekly Bible studies and Sunday morning services.
This week-long program requires a significant number of volunteers from our parish. Please pray and consider how God could use you and your talents in this special opportunity to love your Lord by loving your neighbor. If you wish to donate your time, make a donations, please contact one our ACAN representative so that you can be coupled with a ministry to join in to serve as Jesus taught us to serve.
