Erradicate Breast Cancer
Erradicate Breast CancerBreast cancer awareness is an effort to raise awareness of breast cancer and reduce the disease's stigma by educating people about its symptoms and treatment options. Supporters hope that greater knowledge will lead to earlier detection of breast cancer, which is associated with higher long-term survival rates, and that money raised for breast cancer will produce a reliable, permanent cure.
Asbury Town Neck UMC is strong promponent of the promotion of breast cancer awareness as many of its church members are breast cancer survivors. Asbury stands behind Sister Dale Cager who started a foundation (Hats Off Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation) with a goal to erradicate breast cancer and be a resource to those who are newly diagnosed with breast cancer and are economically disadvantaged.
Many members of Asbury Town Neck support the various events, programs and celebrations all designed to further promote awareness, raise funds to eventually find a cure for this disease.
Every October (Breast Cancer Awareness Month) we celebrate not only with Dale Cager, but other women survivors of breast cancer by wearing "Pink" to church to demonstrate our unity for the cause of awareness as well as to celebrate "Life."
We strongly encourage every woman to get their annual mammography done.
